Qualified teachers
One of the primary functions of the Oklahoma Rimé Foundation is to bring qualified teachers to our local community. What is the meaning of qualified teacher?
A teacher is qualified to teach the Vajrayana if he or she holds a living lineage with pure samaya, as well as vows common to the Shravaka and Bodhisattva vehicles. Moreover, a teacher is qualified to teach to his level of realization if motivated from compassion for sentient beings, rather than seeking personal fame or fortune.
After examining her quailfications, you may feel a particular connection with a teacher. If so, you may wish to receive the practice transmissions from that lineage. At a later stage on the path, you may develop deep devotion for the guru. That is usually a good sign. Devotion is the quickest path to buddhahood.
But the teachings provided by the Oklahoma Rimé Foundation do not presume that level of devotion. They are intended for the beginning student as well as advanced practictioners who wish to refresh or broaden their understanding.
Oftentimes, things become more meaningful when viewed from a different perspective.
